Gandhiji liked these three monkeys in the picture very much as they nave three great messages to convey. Man is surrounded by good and evil things. Man is an intelligent animal. He has to decide what he should follow. He can think for himself whether he has to accept good or pursue evil. Every religion teaches that man should do only good. According to the doctrine of ‘karma’ in the Hindu religion, good deeds or dad deeds decide man’s destiny. The past deeds will overtake man sooner or later. Bad deeds will bring about suffering or misery in man’s life. The first monkey conveys that one should not see evil; the second one suggests that one should not heat evil and the third one asks us to refrain from speaking evil. If these messages are strictly followed by everyone, all the people will enjoy peace and harmony.

ઉર્વિસભઇનિ વાત સાચિ સે.

ભાઇ ગજેન્દ્ર, મઝામાં? નારાયણભાઇનો અહેવાલ વાંચી ગયો. સારો છે. અભિનંદન. ઘ્યાને ચડેલા કેટલાક મુદ્દા ઃ નારાયણભાઇ ગાંધીજીના ‘અંતેવાસી’ ન કહી શકાય. એ જ રીતે, ગાંધીવિચારો દેશના ખૂણે ખૂણે પહોંચાડવાનો તેમનો પ્રયત્ન સારો અવશ્ય છે, પણ તેને ‘સફળ’ ન કહી શકાય. આ વ્યવસાયિક અહેવાલ હોય તો ‘એમનું જીવન અને કાર્ય વંદનીય છે’ એ વાક્ય ટાળવું જોઇએ. અંગત અહેવાલ હોય તો પણ કાર્યને વંદનીય ગણી શકાય. જીવનને વંદનીય ગણવામાં ઘણા સવાલો થઇ શકે છે. ખુદ નારાયણભાઇ પણ કદાચ એવું ન ઇચ્છે. અતિઆદરના હુમલાથી બચવામાં મઝા છે. શુભેચ્છા સહ ઉર્વીશ કોઠારી www.urvishkothari-gujarati.blogspot.com
